The following art works are the portraits of native flowers. I adore the Australian bush and the amazing native flowers that are found there. Many have weird and abstract forms, so different from what we traditionally understand flowers to be. They are often tiny and easily overlooked, but take the time to stop, bend down and consider them and you will find, as I do, the beauty of these wonderful jewels.
They are created in a mix of mediums that I have developed over the years to give a vibrancy and glow to the works which are quite unique. It is created by the transparency of the coloured pencils which allow light to penetrate and then bounce back off the paint/ink below. They are then outlined in shellac ink which emphasises the forms and colours of the flowers and the ink also glows to add further dimension.
Most art works in this portfolio are available as original or prints. The prints are very high quality and give a beautiful result. The originals as always are richer, glow beautiful manner and are a better investment. I have made both available as I want my art to be as accessible as possible
